1. Who we are

TarantulaHub ("we", "us") operates tarantulahub.co.uk - a husbandry tracking platform, marketplace and community for tarantula keepers. For questions about this policy or your data, contact privacy@tarantulahub.co.uk.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: username, email, display name, profile information you choose to add.
• Husbandry records: specimens, feeding/moult/measurement logs, photos and notes you create.
• Marketplace data: listings, orders, shipping addresses, messages between buyers and vendors, reviews.
• Payment data: payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details - we retain only order references, amounts and Stripe identifiers.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type and session logs for security and abuse prevention.

3. How we use your data

• To provide your account, husbandry tracking and community features.
• To operate the marketplace: processing orders, escrow, refunds and vendor payouts.
• To send transactional emails (order updates, payment confirmations, security notices).
• To send optional notifications and the weekly digest (manageable in your settings).
• To prevent fraud, abuse and disputes resolution.

4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)

Contract performance (your account and orders), legitimate interests (security, dispute resolution, service improvement), consent (optional emails and marketing), and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).

5. Sharing your data

We share data only with: Stripe (payments), our hosting provider, email delivery provider, and - where an order requires it - the buyer and vendor involved in that transaction (name, shipping address and order details). We never sell your data.

6. Public content

Specimen profiles, forum posts, reviews and marketplace listings you mark public are visible to other users. You control visibility per specimen and per log entry.

7. Retention

Account and husbandry data are kept while your account is active. Marketplace and payment records are retained for 6 years for tax/accounting purposes. Deleted specimens are removed with their logs and photos.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data from Settings, or by contacting us. You may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).

9. Cookies

We use only essential cookies (session, login, security). No third-party advertising or tracking cookies are set.
